I’m Amina, a 42-year-old seaweed farmer from the sunny shores of Zanzibar. While others may be drawn to the glitz and glamour of tourism, I’ve found my purpose amidst the gentle sway of the ocean. Global warming has had a profound impact on my life as a seaweed farmer. As temperatures rise and ocean currents shift, the delicate balance of marine life is disrupted, posing new challenges to our livelihood. Yet, I remain resilient, adapting my farming practices to navigate these changing seas. The rise in tourism has also left its mark on our coastal communities. While it brings economic opportunities, it also places pressure on our natural resources and traditional way of life. As more visitors flock to our shores, I am reminded of the importance of sustainable practices and preserving our marine ecosystems for future generations. Despite the challenges, I find solace in the rhythm of the tides and the beauty of our underwater gardens. Through hard work and dedication, I strive to cultivate a sustainable future for myself and my community, one seaweed at a time. Thank you
