I’m Saiati, a 38-year-old environmentalist deeply rooted in the soil of Zanzibar and my passion lies in protecting the natural wonders that make our island paradise truly special. As an environmentalist, I’ve witnessed firsthand the impacts of global warming and tourism on our delicate ecosystem. Rising sea levels threaten our pristine shores, while increased fishing and not regulated snorkeling puts pressure on our precious coral reefs. Yet, I remain steadfast in my mission to safeguard these invaluable treasures for future generations. Working for a hotel owning and protecting a small island and its reef has been both a challenge and a privilege. I’ve implemented sustainable practices to minimize our environmental footprint, from reducing plastic waste to promoting responsible tourism initiatives. Despite the obstacles, I find hope in the resilience of nature and the collective efforts of our community. Together, we strive to strike a balance between progress and preservation, ensuring that Zanzibar remains a beacon of biodiversity for years to come. Thank you
